Throughout his career, Stephen has been fortunate to have worked with many respected artists, including Boris Christoff, Tito Gobbi, Placido Domingo, Jessye Norman and Kiri Te Kanawa, He has also seen perform a huge number of great performers, including  Julie Andrews, Maria Callas, Jon Vickers, Margaret Price, Nicolai Gedda, Luciano Pavarotti to name a few, which gave him a unique opportunity to observe closely how performances are crafted both physically and emotionally to communicate music and text. These insights he uses to fashion his teaching to the particular needs of the individual student. There is no ‘one way fits all’ but rather, each student is encouraged to develop his or her own unique instrument. Singing should be enjoyable, fulfilling, and expressive, all through healthy voice use.

Working from home in a purpose-built studio, Stephen teaches students of varying abilities and ages from 7 to 75! If you wish to to undertake grade examinations, he works with the ABRSM syllabus. To make enquiries or to book a lesson, please go to the ‘contact’ page on this website. Fees are £40 for a 1 hour lesson.

Stephen has taught in a school environment.

Some testimonials:

It was so lovely to absorb your expertise and feel good about singing. I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate your time. You’re one of a kind and an inspiration.

I’m feeling an inspiration for singing and performing I haven’t felt in a while after speaking to you. Thank you so much for today, very much looking forward to next week.

Thank for your lesson – stunning – and ‘life-changing’ as far as my singing goes – and I’m using that over-used phrase properly! I can see that I have got a great deal of work to do to make the changes necessary and would love to have some more sessions with you.

Thank you. Both my daughters thoroughly enjoyed singing with you. They loved the fact that they could let go their enthusiasm and energy whilst singing through all their repertoire.

I am writing to ask if it will be possible for my daughter to continue with singing lessons as she is enjoying them greatly and is tearful at the idea of stopping.

Many thanks indeed to you for teaching my son this term. He has really enjoyed your lessons and we’ve all been singing The Hippopotamus Song in the kitchen at home!

I wanted to say that my daughter has been talking very enthusiastically about her lessons with you and she is finding your approach very helpful.
